REPORT AN INCIDENT

The HPP will respond within 24 hours.

Requests for footage from the CCTV cameras can be requested in one of two ways:

1.Via the South African Police Service (SAPS) following the opening of a case: Once a case has been opened and SAPS has assigned a detective to the case via a case number, that detective will be able to apply to the HPP to obtain and view the required footage.

2.Via the Access to Information Act: An application can be made to the Information Officer via this act. Form is available on request.

SHOULD YOU BE A VICTIM OF CRIME

  1. Report the crime to Hermanus South African Police Service (SAPS) as soon as possible.
  2. If the incident took place in the Hermanus SRA boundaries, contact HPP to conduct a review of recorded footage. Should there be a recording of the incident or potential information for investigation, you will be advised to inform the SAPS investigating officer to make contact with the HPP Control Room. Recorded footage or images may not be shared with you.
  3. Recorded footage of an incident will only be released to the SAPS Detective on the presentation of a case number, this is due to the procedure for handling evidence and privacy rights.
  4. Requests for recorded footage of incidents will unfortunately NOT be granted to any member of the public. We are not allowed to do so by law.
  5. Complete the form below. Please provide the location, date and time of the incident.

 

Should you require footage of yourself, you will need to apply for access through the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) process. Applications must be made to the Overstrand Municipality. The Overstrand Municipality Manual for Access to Information can be found on the municipal website.
